My Personality Has Me in a Pickle

I read something today that said somewhere around sixty-five gazillion percent of job openings never go public but are hired from word of mouth or networking contacts. Seriously, it said sixty-five gazillion! Okay, okay, it didn’t say sixty-five gazillion…I don’t remember the actual percentage but, in the words of President Elect Donald Trump, it was HUGE! Apparently one must be extroverted to get ahead in this job market. So, it appears my introverted personality has me in quite a pickle these days. Not trying to be CEO of Nirvana!

I posted a status on the book of faces yesterday about no longer being satisfied working at a job I don’t absolutely love. I said, “I just don’t know what job (that actually pays money) is a good fit for my passions”. It sparked a good bit of conversation between myself and a few friends. Today one of those friends commented that there is no perfect job and I shouldn’t “let the perfect job keep me from the good”. He went on to say, “That pie in the sky mentality of the perfect job does not exist”. Confessions of a Career Dummy: Career Audultery

Do you like beans? I hope so, because I am about to spill them. I honestly don’t know if this is a brilliant thing to do or the most absolutely moronic thing a man looking for a job can do…(insert confused emoji here)! However, as I am once again looking for a new job after being laid off due to lack of work, I am taking a good hard look at my career choices in life and trying to figure out what the heck went wrong and the word adultery comes to mind.
